Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s Father, Pastor Rafael Cruz, headlines Lincoln/Regan Republican Dinner in Grove
The Delaware County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln/Reagan Dinner is set for Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Lake Event Center located at 26301 South 655 Road, Grove, Oklahoma. John McArtor, Chairperson of the group, said he expects this event to sell out quickly.
The speaker for the event is Pastor Rafael Cruz. Pastor Rafael Cruz is the father of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas. Rafael Cruz was born in Cuba and immigrated to this country over 55 years ago to flee an oppressive communist regime. He fought in the revolution and was imprisoned and tortured. He fled to Texas penniless, not speaking a word of English.
Today Pastor Cruz is a pastor at a church in Dallas and serves as the Director of Purifying Fire Ministries ministering in the U.S., Mexico, and Central America. He is also a professor of Bible and Theology and the president of Kingdom Translation Services. His bold courage to flee Cuba to come to America thoroughly embodies the spirit of the American Dream. Who would have thought that a poor, but hard working immigrant could father a United States Senator?
