Har-Ber Village, a pioneer era museum, offers three spring-themed craft workshops on Saturday, March 26, including Needle Felting: Jewelry and Accessories, Beginning Basket Weaving: Berry Basket and Pysanky: Ukrainian Egg Dyeing. Each of these workshops will provide the basic skills needed to make a simple craft—for use this Easter or to use as a gift. The first two workshops start at 9:30am; the Pysanky workshop, at 1:00pm, and all will be held in the Village’s Craft Room. Preregistration and prepayment is required as space is limited. Call 918-786-6446 or go online to har-bervillage.com.

Joi Chupp, an avid Fiber Artist, raises her own fiber animals and does most of the processing herself, making her fibers as organic as possible. Chupp enjoys sharing her love of the world of fiber with others, teaching at many events throughout the area. Chupp will teach the needle felting class, and will demonstrate how to use wool and a felting needle to create one-of-a-kind jewelry or accessories for garments. This is a basic class for beginners and intermediate needle felters. During the class participants will be able to complete several pieces including a bracelet, pendant, necklace and earrings as well as flowers to adorn a scarf, hat, etc. All supplies will be provided. The class runs from 9:30am-12:30pm. The fee is $35.

Mary McCreery is a registered dietician and diabetes educator by day, but says in her real life she is a basket weaver. McCreery has enjoyed weaving baskets for over 15 years, and believes that learning basic basket weaving techniques opens the door to a longing to learn more. McCreery will be teaching this beginning basket weaving class from 9:30am-12:30pm. All supplies are included.

Amelia Chamberlain, Executive Director at Har-Ber Village Museum, will teach the third workshop this day from 1-4:30pm. Chamberlain dabbles in many different crafts, and learned the art of making these detailed eggs over 25 years ago. She will share the history of Pysanky and guide participants in designing and coloring raw eggs with beeswax and dyes. All supplies are included. Fee is $20.

Workshop participants need not pay regular museum admission unless they plan to tour the museum before or after their workshop. “We encourage everyone to check the Village website and Facebook page throughout the season to stay up-to-date on the many activities, event information and programs being offered this year,” says Chamberlain.

Har-Ber Village Museum hours are Monday through Saturday, 9am to 5pm; Sundays, 12:30-5pm. Admission is $10 for adults; $7.50 for seniors 62+; $5 for children 6-13; under 6 and members free.
