PAAS ANNOUNCES SIGNED CONTRACT FOR SHELTER OPERATION IN VINITA

logoThe Vinita Peaceful Animal Adoption Shelter (PAAS), confirmed today the construction contract has been awarded to general contractor Hemphill Services, LLC, 2474 W New Orleans Street, Broken Arrow, OK for construction of the new shelter. Board chairperson Toni Stanley said the entire board of directors is excited that construction will begin very soon.
Bob Natsch, design and construction project manager for PAAS said that since 1963, Hemphill Construction Company, has provided multifaceted construction services for government and private owners throughout the Southeast. “They have established an unparalleled reputation for quality, integrity, hard work and service and are known for our ability to handle difficult and one-of-a-kind civil construction projects,” Natsch explained. “A recent example of their work is the successful completion of the new animal shelter in Edmond, now operating,” he concluded.
PAAS earlier retained the services of Selser Schaefer Architects, Tulsa to handle design and project management for the new shelter. They are also responsible for pre-qualification of the contractor and subcontractors to make sure that they meet the qualifications and experience to complete the project. Vinita residents may well remember the Schaefer family who owned and operated Schaefer Office Supply downtown Vinita for many years. Robert Schaefer, a principal of the firm is the nephew of the late George Schaefer giving the firm a Vinita connection.
Referring to when the Cities of Edmond and Broken Arrow retained Selser Schaefer Architects to design animal welfare facilities Schaefer, partner in the firm said that the
team envisioned a facility that would not only increase animal adoption but also be valued as an
important part of the community. “Throughout the process, safety and comfort of the animals is
top of mind,” he added, “and, we expect the PAAS facility will be the same,”

PAAS is a nonprofit, 501c3 Public Charity dedicated to help eliminate animal suffering and
organized to provide a safe haven for homeless dogs and cats in this area. Construction of the new
shelter is expected to begin soon and be in operation later this year.
